Next time you find yourself in the general vicinity of Carman, Manitoba, do yourself a favor and take some extra time for one of the most scenic drives you’ll find in Manitoba.
Twenty minutes west of Carman, you’ll find the tiny village of Roseisle. Head south into town and then west on to Main Street. Keep on heading west, and soon you’ll find yourself in a landscape that, to me, feels more West Virginia than Manitoba. The winding road will take you through an incredible landscape of lush forest of the Pembina Hills, with vistas unlike any I’ve seen in Manitoba.
A highlight along the way is the old Leary’s Brickworks. Seeimingly in the middle of nowhere, the brick yard has been out of operation since the 1950s.
