Jermyn Building (R.I.P.)

Logan Avenue. Here’s a photo that was taken back in January of this year. The building on the right side of the frame (The Jermyn Building, built 1907) was destroyed in a fire a couple of days ago.

I don’t think too many people are going to miss this building. While not completely vacant, it certainly looked the part, and was obviously under-utilized. A spectacular building it was not. Despite that, it was a living, breathing building, and part of a colourful and interesting streetscape.

Now we’re left with that much more bleakness, heartbreak, and gap-toothed emptiness in Downtown Winnipeg.
