Is it just me, or does anyone else out there think it might be time to replace the tower at The Forks? At only six stories high, the current tower doesn’t offer much of a vantage point at all. More important, though, is the current tower’s lack of a 360° viewing platform.
A wrap-around platform would allow views of the Downtown cityscape, the rivers, St. Boniface, Esplanade Riel and the soon-to-be-completed Human Rights Museum. With the expected flood of tourism that the new museum will bring, the time may very well be right to build a new tower. Nothing fancy required: Just a a 360° viewing platform, and three or four additional stories.
