Fitzgerald Building

Fitzgerald Building

University of Manitoba (1913).

An interesting little detail on this building is the swastika motif that’s found in its interior. I’ve heard people suggest that they should be removed, but I think that’s silly: The building dates from many years before the Nazis hijacked the symbol for their own nasty purposes, and it’s rather fascinating to see it used in a public building before it became the universal symbol of hate.
